ST GEORGE YOUTH SERVICES

St George Youth Services, located in Sydney has been operating for 17 years and SYS provides inclusive and sustainable social justice services that improve the wellbeing and connectedness of disadvantaged young people, families and communities with a particular focus on culturally and linguistically diverse people (including refugees and new migrants).

St George Youth Services objectives are primarily for young people and their families in and around the St George region, NSW: These are:

  • To relieve poverty, misfortune, distress, destitution, helplessness and disability among local disadvantaged young people.
  • To provide appropriate, accessible and quality welfare and support services to at-risk and disadvantaged young people.
  • To identify and meet the needs of young people and their families.
  • To promote, improve and coordinate the provision of youth and family support services.
  • To respond to social, economic and policy changes which impact on young people and the provision of youth services.

The “Community Harmony” project is a social change project which aims to address community harmony, racism, and promote life-skills amongst disadvantaged young people of diverse cultural backgrounds. Young people working together with local youth service/local community organizations, schools/Department of Education and families will lead the project.

The funding that the Mary Potter Trust Foundation has provided will assist and initiate many activities of the “Community Harmony” project.
