Mobile Protective Behaviours Puppet Show - The Benevolent Society The Benevolent Society is Australias oldest non-profit organisation with a strong history of supporting individuals, families and communities, strengthening social networks and building individual and community capacity. The services and programs delivered through their Centre for Children focus on encouraging childrens healthy development and developing community resilience. The Centre for Children offers families with children 0-12 years, ranging from universal services that all parents can access to intensive therapeutic work with high risk families. This project is to develop a protective behaviours puppet show for children under 5 years, parents/carers and early childhood teachers in the South West Sydney region. The initiative will raise awareness of child protection issues and protective behaviours and will be run by 2 local workers trained in protective behaviours. Protective behaviours is a concept developed in line with the stranger danger model to help children learn about trusting their feelings and talking to adults about them, especially when they feel scared, frightened or unsafe. The aim of the puppet show is to help children in identifying safe and unsafe situations and learn basic skills to help them protect themselves. << back to Previous Grants
