“Life Stories” Community Awareness Program - Mission Australia

Mission Australia is founded on the principles of care, compassion, empowerment and professionalism. They provide more than 300 community and employment services for disadvantaged people in both rural and metropolitan areas.

The “Life Stories” – Community awareness of youth homelessness project, located in rural Lambton, NSW is based on an experimental workshop model during which participants explore the myths and realities of youth homelessness and participate in a Q&A session with a presenter. “Life Stories” presenters are young people who have experienced homelessness and are trained, supported and paid for their efforts. The project gives regional communities an opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of youth homelessness and provides young homeless people with leadership and vocational skills.
