Streetwize Communications - "Healthy Bubs"

Streetwize Communications is a national not for profit organisation located in Sydney. It is a communication agency specialising in researching and communicating social issues to young people (and their families and carers), Indigenous communitieis and "hard to reach" or marginalised groups across Australia.

In 2005, Streetwize in partnership with Karabi Community and Development service in Western Sydney, developed an innovative positive parenting resource for Aboriginal women who are expecting or caring for a new baby. The resource was developed based on workshops with Aboriginal women in the target group, held at Karabi. A series of draft paying cards displaying positive parenting messages and artwork were developed based on workshop material and information needs.

The cards have now been developed to final artwork and our funding has enabled Streetwize to print and distribute 2000 packs. Utilising Steewize's national database, a targeted distribution plan has been developed for the card packs to be delivered to all Aboriginal parenting, health/AMS, young mum groups, and educator/health related organisations across Western Sydney, (and the broader NSW as appropriate).
